White Jeans & Fat Knees

Yes ladies, once again white jean season is upon us!

I know what you’re thinking: she’s going to tell us where the best place to buy white jeans is or her favorite brand. Or maybe what to pair them with!

No

I will do none of those things for a very good reason.

I have fat knees.

Please don’t think I am calling myself overweight: I know I’m not. I workout 5 days a week, 1-2 hours each day. I eat no sugar or processed foods, track all of my macros and get plenty of veggies, fruits, and water.

However, I danced all growing up and in college, played tennis, run about 15 miles a week, participate in a variety of exercise classes (except pilates, I hate pilates). I also do a lot of strength training alone and with my trainer as well as HIIT on my off days, so I have lots of leg muscles.

Now that I have sufficiently bragged about how healthy and active I am, I am going to say something no blogger has ever said.

White Jeans suck!!!!

Look, I am healthy but I am also human with many personal and physical flaws. Not only do I have big muscular thighs from all of my activity (not that muscular thighs are bad, I love them, just not in white jeans), I have fat knees and cellulite. Once I hit 26, those ripples started forming no matter what I did! I was even biking 12 miles a day and dry brushing on top of everything else. I’ve started cupping recently, but honestly don’t have the time to be consistent so i’m not sure if it works.

Side note: cellulite is not necessarily caused by fat but rather the connective tissues beneath your skin. Fat can add excess pressure to those tissues and make them bulge on the weak spots. Even models have cellulite. So having it doesn’t mean you’re fat, just that you’re getting older. Is that worse? I don’t know.

The problem is, white jeans show everything!!! Every imperfection, every ripple, and the worst, my oddly fat knees that have been that way even when I was at my thinnest-my friend Britany used to call them alien knees.

But we see these beautiful bloggers showing off their amazing wardrobes (that I wish I could afford) and pairing everything with white jeans! It’s heartbreaking. I was even talking to a client who is this tiny petite thing and even SHE was saying how she can’t pull them off because she has cellulite. I was completely shocked because I would have thought she, out of all people, wouldn’t have that problem.

Why am I writing this then? Because honestly, I thought I was alone in my frustration and no matter what I did, I couldn’t make them look work the way I wanted them to. That is quite the confidence killer. But the more women I talk to, the more I’m finding that we are the rule, not the exception.

So YOU are not alone. The world is full of beautiful, strong, amazing women who cannot pull off white jeans and you know what? It’s ok!!!

I’ll scream it out loud: I have fat knees and I am proud!

That being said: If you have any solutions or suggestions, comment below! I’m sure I’m not the only one looking for a way to rock the white jeans!

Now go forth and be confident in your own skin! And rock those white jeans if you want! You do You!
