Hello my traveling fashionistas, I am here with a fun update on things NOT to wear when flying. Remember when traveling via airplane used to be an event where fine ladies and gentlemen donned their business suits and best clothes? Neither do I.

Today it is all about leggings, giant sweaters or zip ups, and Ugg boots, anything to make the journey more comfortable. And since I am apparently basic...actually I am less than basic since I don’t own a pair of Ugg boots...but since I am basic I wore my Target leggings, Tommy Hilfiger duck boots (the security guy asked me if they were LL Bean and when I said no, he excitedly asked me where I got them and how much- I’m pretty proud of myself), and an oversized speckled sweater with very tiny, almost imperceivable gold threads throughout.

As imperceivable as those tiny gold threads were, do you know what did see them? The TSA scanner. My entire torso lit up like a christmas tree and then they spent the next 20 minutes just trying to find a woman to give me a pat down. Her name was Sally. She was over 70 and had 7 grandchildren. Lovely woman, best pat down I ever had.

Moral of the story? Apparently any and all metallic or shiny articles of clothing show up in the scanners at airport security. Since metallic fabric is currently in style, I feel like this piece of information should not be kept a secret and so you're welcome. I mean I definitely had a nice chat with the TSA agents and made a new friend but most travelers try to have as little interaction with airport security as possible.

That’s your PSA for the day. Go forth and don’t get stopped by the Transportation Security Administration.
