Is anyone else getting cabin fever from this dreary weather?!

I mean, I shouldn’t complain-I grew

up in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and my mom called to let me know that there is still snow there whereas Nashville is just rainy. But still, I have been itching for an escape from our routine and the gray.

The problem is, we, like many young people, are on a budget. We own a house and have bills to pay and don’t enjoy starving. Also, when you’re married you think:

Hey! I have a permanent travel buddy now!

Not

Hey! now I have to pay double for a vacation and can’t split the costs!”

Yeah that didn’t cross my mind until we started making lists of all the places we wanted to see.

However, thanks to a suggestion from our wonderful friends Tamara and Jovica (don’t bother trying to pronounce his name, he’s Serbian and it’s impossible), we just booked a trip to the Azores Islands off the coast of Portugal for our anniversary for around $500 a piece with taxes and only an hour layover. It’s usually $1500-2500/ticket, yeah I know, we are pretty impressive.

I’m posting some pictures now to brag about how cool this trip is going to be and how jealous you are and how you’re over my stupid sales pitch ,and how you want me to tell you how I did it already. I’ll share that info after the pics just so you have to look at them. Don't worry, I make no money from this, just wished someone had shared this with me sooner.

Ok, now that super cool bragging time is over, go to https://scottscheapflights.com/ and sign up for a premium membership. It is $39 annually and if you book one trip, it more than pays for itself. They send you emails whenver deals come up and depending on the day, Ive gotten 1-4 deals. I think they take weekends off though since I rarely get emails Saturday and Sunday.

Here is my only suggestion. You will want to expand the cities you’re willing to fly out of. It’s not super expensive to fly from your airport to a major airport like Denver or Atlanta but those are the ones that always get the best deals, and the minor ones definitely get plenty of deals, just not quite as many. Our flight is technically out of Atlanta but that’s a 4-5 hour drive from us and we at least think it’s worth it. Also, it’s only international so you’ll just have to get well versed at the Hopper App if you want to keep an eye on domestic flights.

The last suggestion-get really good at google flights. It’s amazing if you use it right even domestically. If you have any questions on how to use it, feel free to message me. Ryan and I are Google flight ninjas.

I hope this helps, now go forth and travel!
